Issued on the record.
How the Guilder is to be issued, recorded and accounted for.
Five steps
- 01
Authorise
Each issue is decided by the body the rules name, within the limits they set.
- 02
Record
It is entered in the Bank’s accounts and register before any note leaves the Bank.
- 03
Publish
The register entry is published here, with its date and source document.
- 04
Audit
An independent auditor reconciles the register with the accounts.
- 05
Withdraw
Worn notes are retired and destroyed under supervision, and recorded.
Paper and digital
One currency, one register.
Banknotes and digital Guilders are the same money in two forms, issued under the same rules and recorded in the same register. For banknotes, the register follows each series from printing to destruction. For digital Guilders, every creation and cancellation is entered both in the register and on the ledger, so that the two can be reconciled.
